SPED 861: Blending Academics and Transition

Description: The purpose of this course is to provide you with an understanding of how to blend academic instruction with effective transition planning and services. Emphasis is placed on the principles and application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and how that affects secondary school programs, transition planning, and post-secondary education. You will have the opportunity to develop and modify general education instructional materials to embed transition topics and principles of UDL and differentiated instruction strategies and strategy instruction. The course design also incorporates many features of UDL guidelines and you will learn to recognize these features.
