Credits: 3

Key Skills: constructivist learning theories, computational thinking, computer-based learning environments, develop assessment, objectivism, constructivism, learning technologies

Description: To be effective, educational technologies must be designed based on what we know about how people learn. This directly integrates with learning theories centered around computational thinking. This course explores (1) important constructivist learning theories, (2) how such learning theories can be used in designing and developing computer-based learning environments, and (3) how student learning can be assessed in those environments. The course develops these topics using frameworks that oppose objectivism versus constructivism. This course is suitable for students who wish to learn how constructivist learning technologies can change the way we teach and learn.
